Governor Steve Bullock, state health officials and Helena school administrators are planning an announcement Tuesday regarding the investigation into e-cigarettes.

The Governor's Office said in a press release that the announcement relates to "possible causes of e-cigarette-related illness, injury, and death and the alarming increase in flavored e-cigarette use by Montana's youth."

Bullock will be joined by DPHHS Medical Director Dr. Greg Holzman, President of the Montana Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics Dr. Cathy White and Capital High School Principal Brett Zanto.

In late September, Montana DPHHS confirmed the state's first serious case of pulmonary disease associated with vaping. That person was hospitalized, but later released to recover at home.

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control are encouraging people to discontinue use of any type of e-cigarette product until more information is known.
