BILLINGS- A Billings man is accused of running through police roadblocks at MetraPark during last Thursday’s presidential visit.
Kelly LaFontaine, 42, was booked into the Yellowstone County jail Thursday on suspicion of driving under the influence and obstructing a peace officer.
According to court documents filed Monday, two Montana Highway Patrol troopers were stationed at MetraPark to secure the parking lot during the event.
LaFontaine reportedly sped his vehicle around the troopers and continued north onto Bench Boulevard into an upper lot of the Metra.
After trying to flag LaFontaine down to stop, one trooper was forced to pursue him with lights and sirens deployed.
LaFontaine initially gave troopers an incorrect name but eventually identified himself, according to court documents. He was then given a field sobriety test and reportedly told troopers, “I am impaired,” according to court documents.
LaFontaine has six DUI convictions from 1999, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2009, and 2017, prosecutors said.
