HELENA – Construction on West Main Street past Reeder’s Alley may be completed sooner than anticipated, according to Helena Sand and Gravel.

The major construction project is currently two weeks ahead of schedule, and crews are installing sidewalks and curbs right now.

Work on West Main began in May, and has caused up to 20 minute delays for drivers in the area.

Tentatively, roadway paving will begin the week after Labor Day, which will completely close the road again.

Project manager Solomon Redfern said this year’s construction should be completed around the last week of September, but more work will need to be done next year.

“Once we are done at the end of September, we will have some work next spring or early summer to complete this project that had some weather requirements with it,” Redfern said.

For more information about the project, or to express any concerns, the public is asked to contact Helena Sand and Gravel.
