Michelle King of Lincoln, 31 years old, has been charged with felony forgery and theft for allegedly stealing mail.
On June 1st, a Lewis & Clark County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a Buick in the area of Middlemas Road and North Montana. Court documents say the vehicle matched the description of a car related to recent mail thefts around the county.
During the traffic stop, the driver, later identified as King, allowed the deputy to examine papers on the car’s dashboard. Prosecutors say the papers were in fact numerous pieces of mail, none of which were addressed to King.
When the car was searched, investigators sat they found more than 100 pieces of mail, two packages, and a checkbook that appeared to be stolen.
King also faces several drug related misdemeanors.
Bond for King was set at $25,000.
Court documents say Ruthanne Banks, 38 years old, missed court appearances in two cases, including two scheduled jury trials between February 27 and April 18.
One of those cases involved an alleged felony assault with a weapon where she is accused of hitting a many with a pellet rifle and breaking a window in a truck.
Banks’ bond was set at $10,000.
Each charge of bail jumping related to a felony carries a maximum of 10 years in prison.
