Great Falls boy uses savings account to help Rescue Mission

GREAT FALLS — Montana Credit Union was able to help make a donation to the Great Falls Rescue Mission - with the help of a very generous 10-year old boy.

Benjamin Brown is a member of the credit union's Pee Wee Penguin Young Savers Program. For every $5 he deposits into his savings account, he earns points that he can trade at the Pee Wee Store for toys, books, and crafts.

But Benjamin wasn’t interested in toys for himself. Instead, he decided to cash in the points he’s been saving to give toys to the children at the Cameron Family Center, located at the Great Falls Rescue Mission.

“Well, what I wanted to do was help out as many people as I can because I just want to be a good person in our community,” Benjamin told MTN News.

Montana Credit Union was also able to match Benjamin’s donation in cash to donate to the Great Falls Rescue Mission as well.

“Once we heard this story we were pretty impressed, so we decided to match his gift, just with a cash gift, on behalf of him to the rescue mission so hopefully they can use it for Christmas celebrations for the families at the Cameron Center, or whatever they need right now,” said Becky Timmons, VP of Marketing for Montana Credit Union.

Acting on the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people,' Benjamin and Montana Credit Union hope their contributions can help those in need this holiday season.
