HELENA – Ethan Davidson, a senior at Capital High School, can now add an impressive achievement to his resume: a perfect ACT score.
Davidson earned the highest possible composite score of 36. On average, only 1/10th of one percent of students who take the test earn that score.
Davidson says he was ecstatic to find out he got a perfect score, but it didn’t come without hard work.
His advice to other students: take the test more than once if you can, take advantage of study opportunities at school or the library, and bring a watch to the test to help with timing.
Above all, he says have confidence in yourself.
“Believe that you can get that high score, and work hard at it,” Davidson said. “Don’t feel like you’re not as good as you actually are. People are better than they make themselves out to be.”
Davidson is an Eagle Scout and ran cross-country. He is also involved with math and science clubs at Capital.
After he graduates, Davidson plans to do a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Then, he’ll head off to college to study bio-technology or genetics.
Davidson is the son of Erika and James Fehr and the oldest of five.
The ACT has four sections, English, math, reading and science. The composite score is the average of the four tests.
