HELENA – ExplorationWorks’ new exhibit EngineerIt! finished being installed on Thursday Sep. 20 and is now ready for the public.

Engineer It! allows families to explore the world of civil engineering through hands on features such as a typhoon table, puzzle cube and giant Jenga.

The new exhibit was designed by ExplorationWorks staff in partnership with eight local engineering firms from Helena and features some of the projects they have completed locally.

Exhibits manager Matt Jetty said he’s had a blast helping design the exhibit and hopes it shows kids the importance and fun of civil engineering.

“We kind of fill a gap in the education community where maybe civil engineering isn’t covered in school or kids have a vague idea of what civil engineering is,” said Jetty, “So it’s just one of the ways we can help the community, help teach science, bring kids in and show them that it’s fun stuff.”

Staff have been working on Engineer It! since May 2018 and the exhibit will run through January of 2019.

Executive Director Kelly Posewitz remarked, “We are excited to debut this exhibit which was developed and built by ExplorationWorks staff. It definitely has something for visitors of all ages.”

EngineerIt! Is sponsored by Morrison-Maierle, Great West Engineering, Tetra Tech, Anchor QEA, DOWL ENgineering, Pioneer Technical Services, Robert Peccia Associates and Trihydro.
