3 men in custody after traffic stop linked to an armed robbery

(UPDATE, TUESDAY MORNING) At 4:32 p.m. on Monday, a Helena police officer responded to the area of the 1900 block of Cleveland for a report of a robbery.

It was reported that a male suspect pointed a pistol at someone and took his property.  The suspect then ran away with another male.

The two suspects were later apprehended in Great Falls at about 8:45 p.m.

The two 18-year-old Helena-area men were booked into the Cascade County jail for robbery. Their names have not yet been released.

(UPDATE, 9:25 p.m. Monday) The Great Falls Police Department says that officers made a traffic stop on a suspect vehicle linked to an armed robbery in Helena.

Three men are now in custody in Great Falls for questioning; no other details have been released at this point.

(1st Report, 8:39 p.m.) There is a large police presence along and near the Central Avenue bridge in Great Falls.

We have received several unconfirmed reports that at least one person has been taken into custody.

There is no word yet on the cause of the activity, but it does not appear to be due to a crash, nor do there appear to be any injuries.

Traffic is being directed by police; the only blocked area is turning right on to River Drive from Central Avenue West.
